Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Sapience AI Corporation (“Sapience AI,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Sapience AI Chrome Extension (the “Extension”). This policy applies exclusively to the Extension and supplements our platform-level Data Privacy & Governance Policy, which governs the Sapience AI platform and services more broadly.

We are committed to a privacy-first approach. The Extension is designed to minimize data collection, avoid storing raw user data, and transform contextual information into non-human-readable representations before any storage occurs.

By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.

 

Extension Functionality Overview

The Extension provides contextual peer-connection suggestions based on your browsing activity within specific categories of websites. It does not broadly monitor your browsing history. The Extension operates in the following contexts:

Search Engines (Google, Bing)

• The Extension extracts only your search query text from supported search engine results pages.
• Search queries are immediately converted into encrypted vector representations (non-human-readable mathematical embeddings).
• Only these vector representations are stored; raw search query text is not retained.

 

AI Platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)

• The Extension monitors your message count within AI platform sessions.
• After three (3) messages in a session, the Extension extracts message content from the page.
• Extracted content is immediately converted into encrypted vector representations.
• Only these vector representations are stored; raw message content is not retained.

 

Web Forms (Any Website)

• The Extension detects forms with five (5) or more input fields on any website.
• Upon user engagement, a 60-second interaction timer is initiated.
• The Extension tracks only whether the form was completed within the time window.
• The Extension does NOT capture, read, transmit, or store any form input data, field values, or form content.

 

Waitlist Feature

• Users may optionally provide their email address to join the Sapience waitlist.
• This is an explicit, user-initiated action requiring affirmative opt-in.
• The email address is used solely for waitlist communication purposes.

 

Data We Collect

The following table summarizes the categories of information the Extension collects and how each is handled:

 

 

Data We Do NOT Collect

To be clear about the boundaries of our data practices, the Extension does not collect:

• Browsing history or navigation patterns outside the specific contexts described in Section 2
• Financial information, payment data, or credit card numbers
• Login credentials, passwords, or authentication tokens
• Clipboard contents
• Geolocation or GPS data
• Device-level identifiers or hardware information beyond what the browser provides
• Keystroke data or typing patterns
• Contents of form fields, text inputs, or any data you enter into web forms
• Personally identifiable information from web page content (other than the specific contexts described in Section 2)

 

How We Use Your Data

Data collected through the Extension is used strictly for the following purposes:

• Contextual Similarity Matching: Vector representations are compared to identify relevant peer connections based on shared interests or research topics.
• Peer-Based Suggestions: The Extension surfaces informational suggestions for potential peer connections. Suggestions are non-intrusive and do not force any action.
• Improving Relevance: Aggregated, anonymized usage patterns may be analyzed to improve the quality of suggestions.
• Waitlist Management: If you provide your email address, it is used to communicate waitlist status and related updates.

We do NOT use your data for:

• Advertising, ad targeting, or ad personalization
• User profiling for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s core functionality
• Sale or transfer to data brokers or any third parties for monetary consideration
• Cross-context behavioral advertising
• Any purpose unrelated to the Extension’s described functionality

 

Data Transformation and Storage

Vector Encryption

All contextual data (search queries, AI conversation content) undergoes immediate transformation into encrypted vector representations before storage. These vectors are mathematical embeddings that are non-human-readable and cannot be reverse-engineered to reconstruct the original text.

 

Storage Locations

• Local Browser Storage: Minimal extension configuration and state data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API.
• Secure Cloud Backend: Encrypted vector representations and waitlist email addresses (if provided) are transmitted to and stored on Sapience AI’s secure cloud infrastructure hosted on Google Cloud Platform.

 

Security Measures

• Encryption in Transit: All communication between the Extension and Sapience AI backend systems is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or higher).
• Encryption at Rest: Data stored on our cloud infrastructure is encrypted using AES-256 encryption.
• Authentication: All API communications between the Extension and our backend are authenticated to prevent unauthorized access.
• Access Controls: Access to stored data is restricted to authorized Sapience AI systems and personnel on a need-to-know basis, following the principle of least privilege.

 

Data Sharing

Sapience AI does not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party.

We may share data only with the following categories of recipients, and only to the extent necessary:

• Cloud Infrastructure Provider (Google Cloud Platform): Encrypted vector data is stored on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Google does not have access to the content or meaning of the stored vectors. Processing is governed by our Data Processing Agreement with Google.
• Law Enforcement or Regulatory Authorities: We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request. We will notify affected users unless legally prohibited from doing so.

We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or any parties for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s core functionality.

 

Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance

The Extension’s use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• Data collected through the Extension is used only to provide or improve the Extension’s user-facing features as described in this policy.
• Data is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide the Extension’s functionality, for compliance with applicable laws, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with prior notice to users).
• Data is not used by Sapience AI or transferred to any third party for purposes of serving advertisements.
• Data is not used by Sapience AI or transferred to any third party for creditworthiness or lending purposes.
• Human access to user data is limited to targeted debugging, responding to user requests, or compliance with legal obligations, and only with user consent or where aggregated and anonymized.

 

Permissions

The Extension requests only the following browser permissions:

 

The Extension does not request permissions for cookies, browsing history, bookmarks, downloads, geolocation, camera, microphone, or any other sensitive browser capabilities.

 

User Rights and Controls

You maintain the following rights regarding your data:

• Opt-In Control: Peer matching and waitlist features require your explicit consent. You may choose not to participate.
• Opt-Out: You may opt out of data collection features at any time through the Extension’s settings.
• Access: You may request a copy of the data associated with your use of the Extension by emailing dataprivacy@sapienceai.co.
• Deletion: You may request deletion of your data by emailing dataprivacy@sapienceai.co with the subject line “Extension Data Deletion Request.” We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
• Portability: You may request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Uninstall: You may uninstall the Extension at any time through Chrome’s extension management. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data. To request deletion of data stored on our servers, please contact us at the email address above.

 

Data Retention

• Vector Representations: Encrypted vector data is retained for as long as necessary to provide the Extension’s functionality and is deleted upon receipt of a valid deletion request.
• Waitlist Email Addresses: Retained until the waitlist process concludes or until you request removal, whichever occurs first.
• Local Storage Data: Retained in your browser until you uninstall the Extension or clear extension data through browser settings.
• Backup Data: Encrypted backups may be retained for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes and are then deleted.

 

We are committed to defining and publishing more granular retention schedules as the Extension matures, and will update this policy accordingly.

 

Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 (United States) or under the age of 16 (EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child without appropriate parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at dataprivacy@sapienceai.co.

 

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

• Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
• Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
• Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell or share personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA. If our practices change, we will provide a clear opt-out mechanism.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

International Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following additional provisions apply:

• Legal Basis for Processing: We process your data based on consent (which you provide by opting in to the Extension’s features), contractual necessity (to provide the Extension’s services), and legitimate interests (to improve and secure the Extension), balanced against your rights.
• International Transfers: Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission to safeguard such transfers.
• Supervisory Authority: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. A list of EU authorities is available at https://edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/board/members_en.

Prominent Disclosure

In accordance with Chrome Web Store requirements, we provide the following prominent disclosure:

This extension uses browsing context from search engines and AI platforms to suggest peer connections. It converts your search queries and AI conversation content into encrypted, non-human-readable vector representations for similarity matching. It monitors form completion status (not form content) to trigger contextual suggestions. No raw user data is stored. No data is used for advertising. You may opt out at any time.

 

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, the Extension’s functionality, or legal requirements. When we make material changes:

• We will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy.
• For changes that reduce your rights or expand data collection, we will provide at least 30 days’ advance notice via the Extension or email (if you have provided an email address).
• Continued use of the Extension after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, you may uninstall the Extension.
• Previous versions of this policy are available upon request.

 

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, excluding its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action arising under this policy shall be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in King County, Washington.

For EU and UK users: Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights under EU or UK data protection law.
